About us

What is Kitafund?

Kitafund is a crowdfunding platform for medical, humanitarian, and emergencies, managed by Kita Global Group Sdn. Bhd. (1343946-D).

We started in 2014 as Skolafund, a crowdfunding site that aims to help students, especially the less fortunate, raise funds for higher education and higher education-related opportunities.

Kitafund serves as a crowdfunding platform for fundraising that allows campaigners to create and manage their own fundraising campaigns. Kitafund does not guarantee or act as a provider of medical funds as we will only cover expenses for campaigns up to the amount of the available donations. Once the donations are fully used, Kitafund will not cover any additional costs. Thus, our role is connecting campaigns with potential donors as well as facilitating individuals and organizations in launching their fundraising campaigns, providing them with the resources needed to reach their goals. Campaigners can set up a campaign, share their stories, ask for donations, and they are required to do responsible campaign management including transparent fund disbursement and share credible updates out of it.

Kitafund is operated by Kita Global Group Sdn. Bhd. (KGG), a private company limited by shares, under the Malaysian Companies Act 2016. Besides providing campaigners a platform to make their own fundraising campaigns, Kitafund also allows donors to contribute to charitable causes. KGG charges an operating fee for each donation made through the platform. The operating fee charged by KGG was properly informed to donors prior to the making of the donation, aligned with the transparency expected from campaigners. It allows donors to decide on whether Kitafund is the best place for them to donate. As a private company, KGG is financially audited annually by a credible chartered accountant to ensure our transparency, accuracy, and reliability.

We enable users from various countries to raise funds and make donations for diverse needs, from medical to non-medical, for humans and other living creatures. With its international reach, Kitafund can facilitate crowdfunding campaigns from different nations in the region, providing opportunities for individuals and organizations across the world, and is currently growing rapidly in Asia, to receive financial support from a global community.

One of the most important operational considerations for KGG is accepting and disbursing donations in various currencies. Under Malaysian exchange control regulations, KGG may accept donations in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) from Malaysian residents and foreign currencies from non-residents. Non-residents are not able to donate in RM, and resident donors are not permitted to donate in foreign currencies. Furthermore, KGG can only disburse donations outside Malaysia in foreign currencies because disbursing in RM is prohibited. In the spirit of compliance, KGG was getting legal advice from prominent private practice on the fundraising and disbursement process, making sure it was in accordance with the governing law in Malaysia.

Kitafund as an Open Platform for All

Kitafund is an open platform where everyone can start a fundraising campaign, making it accessible to the public for various causes. As a part of our commitment to transparency and security, Kitafund has a dedicated team that verifies each campaign before it’s published. We collaborate with hospitals and NGOs that help us to make sure that the campaigns are aligned with our guidelines. Also, our investigation team conducts regular checks on campaigns to ensure transparency and proper use of donations. To maintain accountability and help to protect donors, Kitafund requires campaigners to provide regular updates about their fundraising progress before any funds are disbursed. Kitafund’s neutral stance and transparency allows everyone to raise funds without bias or preference, so long as they operate within legal and ethical boundaries.

Kitafund not only helps people raise money for medical needs, such as surgeries and treatments, but also non-medical needs, such as education, charity projects, community development, disaster relief, and personal emergencies. Kitafund allows anyone to create a campaign and gather support for any important cause. Here is the types of campaigners that can make campaigns on Kitafund:

  • Personal
Kitafund lets individuals create their own fundraising campaigns. The individual is able to create their campaign by themselves directly through the Kitafund platform, for any kinds of medical or non-medical crowdfunding campaigns.
  • Hospitals
We facilitate fundraising campaigns that directly contribute to patient care, medical research, and the enhancement of healthcare facilities through our partnership with hospitals. These partnerships ensure that critical healthcare services are accessible to those in need, and that the public can participate in life-saving initiatives.
  • NGO
Through our collaboration with NGOs, we support a wide range of causes such as disaster relief and social justice. We provide organizations with the tools and visibility needed to engage a broader audience and funding.
  • Universities
Our collaboration with universities opens new avenues for academic advancement and community engagement. By partnering with educational institutions, we empower those in the educational area to launch campaigns that fund scholarships, research, social projects, and other educational needs.

At Kitafund, we ensure all donations flow directly to our trusted partners to ensure the funds reach the right people quickly and securely, allowing them to use the donations effectively for their purpose.

Since 2019, Kitafund is dedicated to help those in needs.

What You Pay for Donations.

When you make a donation on Kitafund platform, additional fees will apply to cover transaction and platform costs as follows:

  • Payment Gateway

This fee is charged by the company managing the payment gateway. Kitafund does not profit from these fees. The charges are as listed below, based on the payment channel:

    • Razer (Molpay): RM1 per transaction
    • Stripe: RM1 + 5% of the donation amount
    • E-wallet (Grab, Boost, TouchnGo): RM1 per transaction
  • Platform Fee

This fee is charged by Kitafund. An additional fee of the donation amount will be applied. Kitafund charges an operational donation fee to support the platform’s operational needs, such as verifying fundraising efforts by checking identities and documents, managing technology development to enhance fundraising and donation processes, ensuring donation security by monitoring compliance with terms and conditions, and covering additional related costs. Kitafund ensures that all funds are managed transparently, contributing to the platform’s continuous improvement and security measures.

For example, if a donor wishes to contribute RM10 to a campaign using Online Banking, the total amount payable would be RM10 (Donation) + RM1 (Molpay Payment Gateway Fee) + RM0.50 (Kitafund Platform Fee). The final amount to be paid by the donor in one transaction would be RM11.50.
